The DITRAP consortium met in Barcelona on 3–4 September 2026 for a productive two-day kick-off meeting, hosted by RemAb Therapeutics. The meeting marked the beginning of the four-year collaboration and provided an important opportunity to establish a shared understanding of the project’s objectives, responsibilities and priorities.
Representatives from RemAb Therapeutics, Tampere University, University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), ADKNOMA Health Research, the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) and accelopment Switzerland AG participated in the meeting, bringing together expertise spanning biotechnology, clinical research, artificial intelligence, health economics, intensive care, and project management and communication.
Across the two days, partners discussed the activities and connections between the project’s different work packages. Topics ranged from the preparation of the clinical programme and the development of an AI-based model to identify patients at greater risk of prolonged ICU stays, to clinical and immunological data analysis, communication and dissemination, and the ethical considerations associated with both clinical research and AI.
Importantly, the kick-off was also an opportunity for consortium members to meet face to face and strengthen the relationships behind the project. Discussions during and between sessions created space to exchange perspectives, address questions and better understand how each partner’s contribution connects with the wider DITRAP objectives. Close coordination and direct communication were highlighted as particularly important for the successful delivery of the project.
The consortium concluded the meeting with responsibilities clarified and the first concrete actions agreed across the different areas of work. These include progressing clinical and regulatory preparations, initiating work on patient stratification and data access, preparing for clinical-site selection, developing the project’s stakeholder and communication activities, and establishing the Ethics Board.
The Barcelona meeting provided a strong start to DITRAP, combining productive planning with positive energy and a shared commitment to the work ahead.
